Alabama fans are feeling a bit disrespected by the decision, seeing it as a slight to their team’s strength. This is especially true considering the close call between the two teams in their last matchup in 2024, where Alabama barely won 27-25.
Despite the backlash, South Carolina’s choice reflects a strategy to shake things up and create excitement by facing a tough opponent in front of their fans. This move could set up one of the most highly anticipated games of the 2025 season.

South Carolina’s 2024 homecoming upset over No. 10 Texas A&M shows they’re capable of pulling off surprises, and maybe this year they’ll do it again.
