Why Caleb Williams Almost Left for UCLA: The Shocking Petty Motivation

Caleb Williams almost ended up at UCLA, but it wasn’t because he wanted to play there—it was more about getting back at his old coach, Lincoln Riley. When Riley left Oklahoma for USC, Williams was so mad he thought about joining UCLA just to face off against him. He even took a visit to UCLA and checked out a few other schools, including LSU. But after some talks and FaceTime calls with Riley, Williams decided to forgive him and go to USC instead.

At USC, Williams quickly made a name for himself, winning the Heisman in 2022 and leading the Trojans to an 11-3 record in his first season. Though they didn’t make the College Football Playoff, Williams’ skills were undeniable, and he went on to be drafted by the Chicago Bears with the No. 1 pick.

If he had picked UCLA, things might’ve turned out differently. But in the end, his decision to stick with USC worked out for him, and now he’s looking to make an impact in the NFL.
