Since last week’s announcement that Aaron Glenn would become the new head coach of the New York Jets, he has faced a relentless stream of questions about the team’s quarterback situation for next season. On Monday, after his introductory press conference, Glenn made it clear that no matter how often reporters ask, his answer remains the same.

Speculation surrounding Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Jets began long before Glenn’s arrival. It has been a hot topic in sports media, fueled by Rodgers’ cryptic comment urging reporters to “ask Woody (Johnson)” about his status in New York. While Johnson, the team’s owner, will ultimately make the final decision, Glenn will likely have some input as well.

During a media session following his press conference, Glenn was once again pressed about Rodgers’ potential return. This time, his frustration with the repetitive questioning was evident.

“If you are going to continue to ask me the same question, I’m gonna give you the same answer,” Glenn told reporters, as captured in a video shared by Ari Meirov on X. “We’re still in evaluation mode. So if anybody else is going to ask that, I’m going to give you the same answer. So don’t waste your time. We clear?”

One reporter, determined to get some insight, rephrased the question, asking Glenn what qualities he values in a quarterback.

“What do you look for in a quarterback? What is an Aaron Glenn quarterback?” the reporter asked.

“A winner,” Glenn replied. “Mental and physical toughness. You’re not gonna get me.”

Glenn, who played the first eight seasons of his NFL career in New York, understands the intensity of the city’s media landscape. He knows how persistent reporters can be when chasing a story, especially one as significant as the quarterback question.

This interaction showcased Glenn’s no-nonsense approach and his refusal to be swayed by repeated inquiries. His directness sets the tone for his tenure in New York, making it clear that he’s not a coach who can be easily pressured. In a city like New York, where the media is notoriously relentless, Glenn’s firm stance will undoubtedly be an asset.
