The Detroit Lions have plenty of questions to answer regarding their defensive line this offseason. Alim McNeil is still recovering from a torn ACL, with no clear timeline for his return. Levi Onwuzurike is set to hit free agency after finishing his rookie contract, and D.J. Reader has been mentioned as a potential cap casualty. With so much uncertainty at defensive tackle, the Lions may look to free agency for reinforcements.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox recently predicted that the Lions would sign Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill. While pulling talent from a struggling Bengals defense might raise some eyebrows, Hill could be an exception. He remained a reliable presence in Cincinnati, making an impact against both the run and pass in 2024. He totaled 56 tackles, including a career-high seven tackles for loss, and generated 32 pressures, per Pro Football Focus.
For a Lions defense in need of pass-rush help and run-stopping ability, Hill would be a solid addition. He may not be a flashy signing, but he’d bring much-needed stability to a defensive tackle group in flux.
