Brewers Play It Smart, Snag Former Yankee in Low-Key Offseason Move

The Milwaukee Brewers have made a low-key addition to their pitching depth, signing former New York Yankees left-hander Josh Maciejewski to a minor league deal. The news broke late Friday, as reported by Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston.

Maciejewski got a brief taste of the majors with the Yankees in 2024, throwing seven innings with a solid 2.57 ERA. However, he spent most of the season in Triple-A Scranton, where things didn’t go quite as smoothly—posting a 5.37 ERA over 19 games. He also had a short stint with the Double-A Somerset Patriots, where his numbers weren’t much better (7.11 ERA in seven games).

Despite some struggles in 2024, Maciejewski has shown flashes of promise in the past. In 2023, he put up a strong 2.96 ERA across three minor league levels. Known for his ability to eat up multiple innings, he carries a career 4.00 ERA in the minors.

The Brewers are coming off a season where their bullpen ranked second in MLB with a 3.11 ERA, so Maciejewski will have his work cut out for him if he wants to earn a role. Still, it’s an interesting depth move for Milwaukee as they look to maintain their strong pitching staff in 2025.
