Marvel’s Super Bowl Surprise: Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four Take Center Stage

A Blockbuster Night for MCU Fans

Marvel Studios is gearing up for a spectacular showcase during the 2025 Super Bowl, promising two highly anticipated trailers that will set the stage for an exciting year in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

With three major films lined up for release in 2025, speculation has been swirling about which movies will secure a coveted Super Bowl trailer slot. Reports confirm that Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be front and center, leaving Captain America: Brave New World, which hits theaters on February 14, out of the spotlight.

This marks a significant shift from last year’s Super Bowl, where Deadpool & Wolverine was Marvel Studios’ sole focus. Now, fans can look forward to a double dose of Marvel magic on February 9.

What to Expect from The Fantastic Four Trailer

Excitement for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been building ever since Marvel gave fans a sneak peek at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. While filming hadn’t yet begun at the time, a concept teaser was shown, offering glimpses of the film’s unique retro aesthetic.

The footage featured Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards hosting a science class titled Fantastic Science with Dr. Richards and the team participating in a game show called Let’s Make a Love Match. However, the teaser ended on a chilling note as Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, ominously peered into the windows of the Baxter Building.

The first full-length trailer for The Fantastic Four is set to debut on Good Morning America ahead of the Super Bowl. During the game, Marvel is expected to air a shortened 30-second version, potentially featuring fresh footage.

The film’s 1960s-inspired setting will likely play a significant role in the trailer, setting it apart from past Fantastic Four adaptations and the broader MCU. Fans can also expect to see more of the Fantasticar, a staple of the team’s comic-book history, and possibly a live-action version of HERBIE.

Will Doctor Doom Make an Appearance?

While glimpses of Galactus (played by Ralph Ineson) and the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) are almost guaranteed, a lingering question remains—will Marvel tease the arrival of Doctor Doom?

Rumors suggest that Robert Downey Jr. has been cast as the iconic villain, setting the stage for his appearance in Avengers: Doomsday. If Marvel decides to hint at Doom’s involvement, it could be one of the biggest surprises of the night.

Super Bowl LIX: A Must-Watch Event for Marvel Fans

Super Bowl LIX kicks off on Sunday, February 9, at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX. Whether you’re tuning in for the game or just for the trailers, Marvel Studios is ensuring that MCU fans walk away as the real winners of the night.
