Lions’ Jared Goff Among Investors Pushing to Bring WNBA to Detroit

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff may have kept the chants about a potential ownership stake at bay (probably for a good reason—maybe it’s time to let that idea rest for a bit), but he’s still making waves in the Motor City. This time, it’s not just on the football field. Goff is part of a group working to bring a WNBA team back to Detroit, and it’s got local fans excited.

According to Dave Birkett from The Detroit Free Press, Goff was asked about NFL ownership back in October. His response? “No. Not right now,” he said. “Maybe 20 years from now, 30 years from now, but not right now. I don’t have enough money to do that.” But while he might not be thinking of owning an NFL team just yet, being involved in bringing a WNBA team back to Detroit is a huge move for Goff and his wife, Christen. It’s an opportunity to learn the ropes of ownership and make a positive impact on the community.

In an Instagram story this week, Goff shared his excitement: “I’m thrilled to join this inspiring group of leaders as we work to bring a WNBA team to Detroit! This is an incredible opportunity for our vibrant community and the most passionate fans in the country!”
