David Shaw Joins Detroit Lions as Pass Game Coordinator
Former Stanford head coach David Shaw is heading back to the NFL, joining the Detroit Lions as their new pass game coordinator. This marks Shaw’s return to coaching after stepping down from Stanford in 2022 and spending last season as a senior personnel executive with the Denver Broncos.
Shaw, who played wide receiver at Stanford, led the Cardinal for 12 seasons, winning three Pac-12 championships and two Rose Bowls. He now reunites with new Lions offensive coordinator John Morton, with whom he worked in Denver. His hiring strengthens Detroit’s coaching staff after a historic 15-2 season and the departure of several key assistants.
