Palestinians have had enough of Trump’s latest plan for Gaza, telling him to “go to hell” after he suggested the U.S. could take control of the area and turn it into a luxury “Riviera of the Middle East.” During a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said the situation in Gaza had “never worked” and proposed the U.S. take over, develop land, and create jobs, making it a more peaceful place for Palestinians.
But Palestinians aren’t having it. One man, Samir Abu Basel, told Sky News from Gaza, “We’re not his assets.” He made it clear that if Trump wants peace, he should send Israelis somewhere else, not Palestinians, who he says are the real landowners.
Trump’s comments have sparked outrage, with many fearing another wave of displacement, like the Nakba in 1948. Even Netanyahu praised Trump, calling him Israel’s “greatest friend.” However, the proposal isn’t sitting well with leaders worldwide, including in the UK, where government officials have strongly rejected it. They believe a two-state solution is the only way forward for lasting peace.
Meanwhile, Arab nations like Saudi Arabia and Jordan have outright rejected the idea of relocating Palestinians. Hamas also called Trump’s proposal a “recipe for chaos,” arguing that it rewards Israel for its actions.
The proposal has caused tension, with many fearing it could worsen an already volatile situation in Gaza.
