Alabama’s Loss is Michigan’s Gain: 5-Star Football Phenom Commits!

Five-star football player Ty Haywood has committed to the University of Michigan after being turned away by the University of Alabama. Haywood, a highly sought-after offensive tackle from Denton, Texas, initially committed to Alabama in July 2024 but didn’t sign during the early signing period in December.

After reopening his recruitment, Haywood took an official visit to Michigan in January and was impressed by the program’s potential and the coaching staff, particularly head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome. He was also drawn to Michigan’s strong track record of producing NFL-ready offensive linemen.

Haywood’s commitment is a significant boost to Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class, which now ranks sixth in the nation according to On3. He joins fellow five-star recruit Bryce Underwood, a quarterback who flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Haywood is considered one of the top prospects in the 2025 class, with ESPN ranking him as the 16th-best player overall. His addition to the Wolverines’ roster is expected to provide a significant upgrade to their offensive line.
