The Detroit Lions’ Perfect Trade to Reunite Jared Goff with Cooper Kupp
After a historic 15-2 regular season, the Detroit Lions are looking to bolster their roster for a Super Bowl run in 2025. While defense is a clear priority, the Lions could also use an upgrade at wide receiver. One trade that makes perfect sense is for the team to acquire veteran WR Cooper Kupp from the Los Angeles Rams.
The trade proposal:
Lions receive:WR Cooper Kupp
Rams receive:2025 sixth-round pick (from Buccaneers) and 2026 third-round pick.
This would reunite Kupp with QB Jared Goff, who had incredible chemistry with the wideout during their time in Los Angeles, including Kupp’s breakout 2019 season. With Goff at the helm and the Lions’ high-powered offense, Kupp could be the missing piece to elevate Detroit’s passing game.
From the Rams’ perspective, moving Kupp would save $12.5 million in cap space for 2025, making the trade financially viable. Meanwhile, Detroit, with ample cap room, could absorb Kupp’s $20 million cap hit and still have room to address other needs. This trade could be the key to pushing the Lions into serious championship contention next season.
The offseason is heating up, and this potential deal is one to watch closely!
