Jalen Milroe: Embracing His True Self in the NFL, No Position Change Needed

Jalen Milroe, the former University of Alabama quarterback, recently addressed the possibility of playing a different position in the NFL. During an appearance on Pro Football Talk in New Orleans, Milroe was asked if he would be open to switching positions.

Milroe responded confidently, stating, “It’s always at quarterback.” He further emphasized his point by using an animal analogy, saying, “You never ask a zebra to be a dog.”

Milroe declared for the NFL Draft after spending four seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide. During his time at Alabama, he played under two different head coaches: Nick Saban for three seasons and Kalen DeBoer for one season.

In his final season under DeBoer, Milroe threw for 2,844 yards, with 16 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. Although he had a solid season, he was unable to lead the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff.

In contrast, the previous season under Saban, Milroe helped Alabama reach the College Football Playoff, where they lost to Michigan in the semifinals. Milroe also gained experience by filling in for an injured Bryce Young during the 2022 season.

Throughout his time at Alabama, Milroe consistently played as a quarterback, and he has made it clear that he intends to remain at that position in the NFL.
