Ohio State’s 5-Star Recruit Shares Bold Reaction to New Offensive Coordinator Hire
Ohio State’s offseason coaching moves have been closely watched, particularly after defensive coordinator Jim Knowles left for Penn State and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly departed for the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, the promotion of Brian Hartline from wide receivers coach to OC appears to have steadied the ship in terms of top recruits.
5-star commit WR Chris Henry Jr., the No. 1 receiver in the 2026 class, expressed his enthusiasm for the move. “I love this move,” Henry said. “Coach Hartline knows how to develop receivers better than anyone, & now with him as OC I know he’s going to put us receivers in the best position to dominate for sure.”
Henry’s commitment to Ohio State has been in place since July 2023, but Oregon has been working to flip the 5-star recruit. Henry was recently seen wearing Oregon gear, sparking speculation about his potential departure from the Buckeyes.
Despite this, Henry’s comments suggest that the hiring of Hartline as OC has not had a negative impact on his love for the Buckeyes. The recruitment of Henry is expected to be intense, with a decision likely to come on signing day in December.
