Dallas Cowboys fans are no strangers to disappointment when it comes to trade rumors involving star players. However, it’s tough not to daydream about the possibility of bringing in a player with deep ties to the area—especially when that player has openly expressed a desire to join the Cowboys.

Myles Garrett, an Arlington native, recently requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, and Dallas was quickly mentioned as a potential destination due to his local roots. But as much as Cowboys fans may wish for the move, it seems unlikely that Jerry Jones can make the numbers work within the team’s salary cap. While it’s frustrating to think the Cowboys might pass on this opportunity, it would be even harder to swallow if Garrett ended up with a division rival—something that could very well happen.

Garrett recently appeared on radio row at Super Bowl LIX, where he sat down with Sports Illustrated’s Brice Butler. When the topic of his future was discussed, the Washington Commanders were brought up as a strong possibility. Garrett responded enthusiastically, saying, “The Commanders need a pass rusher, and I can give them that.” He added that Washington, following their NFC Championship Game appearance, would be an attractive option for many players. The team’s promising future, led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, could look even brighter if Garrett were to join them.
