Steelers to Play First-Ever NFL Game in Ireland in 2025
NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 7 (UPI) — The Pittsburgh Steelers will make history in 2025 as the first team to play an NFL regular-season game in Ireland, the league announced Friday. The opponent, date, and kickoff time for the Dublin-based matchup will be revealed this spring.
“We are delighted to officially bring a regular-season NFL game to Ireland as part of our 2025 International Games slate,” said NFL executive vice president Peter O’Reilly in a news release.
“Both the NFL and the Steelers franchise have deep roots in Ireland, and we’re excited to debut in Dublin, showcasing our game to a passionate Irish fan base while reinforcing our commitment to global growth.”
The Steelers will play at Croke Park, Ireland’s largest sporting venue.
“We are very excited to be the designated team for the first regular-season game in Ireland this upcoming season,” said Steelers owner Art Rooney II.
“This opportunity is truly special—not only because of the Rooney family’s deep connection to Ireland, but also for the chance to play in front of our growing Irish fan base.”
Starting next season, the NFL can schedule up to eight league-operated regular-season games at international venues. The league has already confirmed three games in London, along with additional matchups in Berlin and Madrid.
Another international game is set for Melbourne in 2026.
