A viral video from New Orleans has reignited old tensions between two former Major League Baseball pitchers—John Rocker and Pat Mahomes Sr. The two, who shared brief overlapping careers in the late 1990s and early 2000s, were seen engaging in a fiery exchange on Bourbon Street, just days after the Super Bowl.
What started as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a social media feud, with both men exchanging sharp words online.

John Rocker, best remembered for his stint as a controversial relief pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, is no stranger to making headlines. His 1999 Sports Illustrated interview—filled with inflammatory remarks—cemented his reputation as one of baseball’s most outspoken figures. Today, Rocker has built a social media following based on his outspoken persona, often fueled by right-wing rhetoric.
On the other side of the confrontation was Pat Mahomes Sr., a former MLB pitcher best known for his time with the New York Mets. While his playing career was less notorious than Rocker’s, his name carries significant weight as the father of Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The two former pitchers, whose playing days briefly overlapped in the late ’90s, found themselves in a heated argument on Bourbon Street. A video of their altercation quickly made the rounds online, sparking speculation about the origins of their bad blood.

Following the public exchange, Rocker wasted no time taking the feud to social media. He posted on Twitter/X:
“This f*ing loser can’t take a damn joke. Wish I laid him out right there and ruined his bullshit weekend even more.”
Mahomes Sr. fired back, calling out Rocker’s well-documented temper:
“You really haven’t changed one bit in the last 25 years. Keep my name out your loud mouth.”
In a separate post, Mahomes didn’t hold back, adding:
“John Rocker is a menace to society.”
With these heated comments, the feud gained even more traction, drawing reactions from fans and former players alike.
More Drama Than Baseball Legacy?
For both Rocker and Mahomes Sr., this public spat has arguably overshadowed their baseball careers. While each had respectable stints in the MLB, neither was a household name based purely on their athletic achievements.
This latest controversy, while entertaining for social media spectators, does little to change their legacies. If anything, it reinforces the long-standing perception of Rocker as an instigator and Mahomes Sr. as someone unwilling to back down.
