Only ‘Act of God’ Can Save Cowboys: Michael Irvin Doubts Schottenheimer’s Chances

Irvin Questions Schottenheimer’s Ability to Lead Dallas Back to Glory

Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin is not convinced that Brian Schottenheimer has what it takes to turn the franchise around. In fact, he believes the new head coach will need divine intervention to succeed.

Speaking to TMZ Sports while in New Orleans, Irvin made it abundantly clear that he sees the Cowboys’ future under Schottenheimer as bleak—unless, of course, a miracle happens.

A Higher Power Needed for a Cowboys Revival

Irvin, never one to hold back his opinions, went on an impassioned rant in the middle of Bourbon Street. His message? The Cowboys’ decision to hire Schottenheimer doesn’t make much sense—unless you factor in divine intervention.

“When He takes a Brian Schottenheimer, the least likely of them all, and then He gives him that position, and He does something great, you yourself will say it must’ve been God,” Irvin declared. “Because we damn well know it wasn’t Brian Schottenheimer!”

Irvin Wanted Deion Sanders for the Job

The Hall of Fame wide receiver has been vocal about the Cowboys’ coaching situation ever since Mike McCarthy’s departure. Irvin strongly advocated for Deion Sanders to take the reins, believing Coach Prime was the right fit to bring the team back to championship contention.

Even with Schottenheimer now officially in charge, Irvin doesn’t seem to have changed his stance. “There are great odds against Brian Schottenheimer in turning around the Cowboys in a great way,” he added.

Can Schottenheimer Prove the Doubters Wrong?

Despite Irvin’s skepticism, Schottenheimer will soon have a chance to prove himself. With organized team activities set to begin in a few weeks, the Cowboys will start laying the foundation for the upcoming season.

Whether or not Schottenheimer needs rosary beads and holy water to pull it off remains to be seen—but he certainly has plenty of doubters to silence.
