Lions Executive Mike Martin Set for General Manager Role at Notre Dame

Lions Executive Mike Martin Set to Become Notre Dame’s General Manager
The Detroit Lions are set to lose a key member of their front office, with Mike Martin, the team’s Director of Scouting Advancement, expected to become the new general manager at Notre Dame. This move comes during an offseason when the Lions have already seen several of their coaching staff members targeted by other NFL teams.

Martin has been with the Lions for four years, playing a significant role in the team’s successful draft strategy under General Manager Brad Holmes and Head Coach Dan Campbell. Prior to his time with Detroit, Martin gained extensive experience with the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tennessee Titans.

As college football moves closer to resembling the NFL due to the influence of NIL and the transfer portal, the role of general manager has become more common at college programs. Notre Dame is filling this position after losing Chad Bowden, who moved on to USC.

Martin, a former college defensive back at Vanderbilt, will bring a wealth of experience to his new role as Notre Dame looks to enhance its football operations in the evolving college sports landscape.
