Yankees Fans Get Their First Glimpse of Max Fried It’s a Bit Blurry, but Worth the Hype

Spring training’s unofficially started for the Yankees down in Tampa, FL, with pitchers, catchers, and a few position players already showing up before the official start. Aaron Judge, Jazz Chisholm, and Cody Bellinger were spotted on the field, and of course, the beat writers were there to grab those zoomed-in, grainy shots of players in action.

The Yankees’ new guy, Max Fried, made his first appearance in pinstripes at a press conference in December, but now fans got to see him tossing some BP (with the camera, of course, from a million miles away). It’s not the clearest footage, but hey, we’ll take whatever we can get. And that wind? It’s making the camera sound like it’s got a mind of its own, with some Stevie Wonder playing in the background for good measure. Is that Fried? Maybe. Could be anyone. But it’s fun to imagine.

The big news left for the week is whether Marcus Stroman will show up, and if he does, what kind of throwback fit he’s sporting. We’ll all be hoping for some up-close shots of him too—don’t need to be squinting to make out his facial expressions. But until then, we’ll enjoy whatever Max Fried, Paul Goldschmidt, and Cody Bellinger clips we can get, even if they’re from far away!
