Oregon Shakes Up Coaching Staff After Losing Key Assistant to Cowboys

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning took a hit earlier this month when wide receivers coach Junior Adams decided to leave for the same role with the Dallas Cowboys. Adams was a key part of the Ducks’ staff and one of the best WR developers in college football, having helped guys like Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Rome Odunze, Troy Franklin, and Tez Johnson reach the NFL.

But in true Lanning fashion, he didn’t waste time finding a solid replacement. According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Oregon is bringing in Ross Douglas, who was Syracuse’s WR coach and helped them lead the nation in passing offense in 2024. Douglas also has NFL experience, having worked as a defensive analyst and WR coach for the New England Patriots.

Before coaching, Douglas played college football at Michigan and Rutgers. Now, he steps into a big role in Eugene, where he’ll be working with a talented receiver group that includes returners like Evan Stewart, Kyler Kasper, Justius Lowe, and Jeremiah McClellan. The Ducks are also adding 5-star WR Dakorien Moore, the top-ranked receiver in the 2025 class.

Douglas is seen as a rising star in coaching, and if he succeeds at Oregon, he could be on his way to even bigger opportunities.
