Former NFL GM Predicts Myles Garrett to the Lions—Could It Happen?

Could Myles Garrett be the next big-name addition to the Detroit Lions? Former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum certainly thinks so. Appearing on Get Up, Tannenbaum made a bold prediction that the Lions will land the Cleveland Browns’ star pass rusher, arguing that such a move makes perfect sense for Detroit.

Why Garrett Would Be a Game-Changer for Detroit

Tannenbaum sees the Lions as serious contenders for a Super Bowl and believes adding Garrett could be the missing piece that puts them over the top. “This just makes too much sense,” he said. “If you’re the Detroit Lions, you have a chance to win right now and when you have to beat San Francisco, Philadelphia, Green Bay (and) Minnesota, you’ve got to beat some great passing games.”

Hutchinson’s Recovery and the Need for More Pass Rush

With Aidan Hutchinson recovering from injury and Za’Darius Smith recently joining the team, Tannenbaum sees Garrett as the final key to solidifying the Lions’ defense. “You have (Aidan) Hutchinson coming off injury. I liked the Za’Darius Smith addition, but go get a Hall of Famer in his 20s. He may get you over the hump,” he explained.

Could the Browns Actually Trade Garrett?

While Cleveland has consistently committed to keeping Garrett, Tannenbaum suggests that a trade could be possible if the Browns decide to rebuild. “If you’re Cleveland rebuilding, get as many assets as you can get,” he noted.

The Bottom Line

If the Lions somehow manage to pull off a deal for Garrett, their defensive front would become one of the most dominant in the league. More importantly, their Super Bowl hopes would become even more realistic.
