Mock Draft Predicts Cowboys Trading First-Round Pick for Myles Garrett

The Dallas Cowboys hold the 12th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and opinions on what they should do with it are all over the place. A vocal portion of the fanbase is pushing for Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, believing he could be a game-changer for the offense. While that argument holds weight, there are also valid reasons against it. This debate is just the beginning of what will be a highly scrutinized offseason for Dallas.

Cowboys’ Draft History and Trade Possibilities

Dallas has several options for using their highest first-round pick since 2021, when they traded down from No. 10 to No. 12 and still managed to land Micah Parsons. If a recent mock draft turns out to be accurate, Parsons might be thrilled with the outcome.

The Cowboys have a history of trading down, as they did in 2021 and again last year before selecting Tyler Guyton. However, moving up in the first round is something they haven’t done in over a decade—dating back to 2012, when they jumped ahead to pick Morris Claiborne.

Another route they could take is trading out of the first round entirely, something they did in 2019 when they dealt their pick to the then-Oakland Raiders for wide receiver Amari Cooper. Now, one mock draft suggests Dallas might make another blockbuster move, this time sending their first-round selection—and more—to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for star pass rusher Myles Garrett.

Myles Garrett to Dallas?

An NFL.com mock draft projects that the Cowboys will go “all-in,” a mentality Jerry Jones has embraced in the past. In this scenario, Dallas ships its first-round picks for both 2025 and 2026 to Cleveland in exchange for Garrett, while the Browns use pick No. 12 to draft Jeanty.

While this trade would require some serious salary cap maneuvering, Parsons has already expressed his willingness to take a pay cut if it meant he could play alongside Garrett. “Micah Parsons has already said he’d take less if it meant he would get to play opposite Garrett,” the mock draft notes.

The Cost of Acquiring Garrett

One of the most intriguing aspects of this proposed trade is the price—just two first-round picks for a generational talent like Garrett. Pairing him with Parsons would create what might be the most dominant pass-rushing duo in the NFL. It’s a scenario that would undoubtedly make life easier for the Cowboys’ defense.

However, there are financial questions to consider. Parsons recently hinted at taking a discount to team up with Garrett, but that depends on how much cap space Dallas would need to accommodate Garrett’s contract, especially if he’s looking for a new deal.

If the Cowboys pull off this trade, they would instantly strengthen their defensive front, but is it a move they’d actually make? Would the price be enough to get it done? It’s a high-risk, high-reward scenario that could change the franchise’s trajectory.

So, the real question is—would you make the deal?
