Jake Tapper Responds to Media Critics: ‘I Kept Receipts’ on Eagles Doubts

CNN’s Jake Tapper isn’t one to hold back, especially when it comes to defending his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. After the team’s dominant Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, Tapper took the opportunity to call out anyone who had doubted the Eagles or their players over the past few years.

During a fiery segment on CNN, Tapper unloaded on media figures like ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, Stephen A. Smith, FS1’s Nick Wright, NBC Sports’ Chris Simms, and The Ringer’s Bill Simmons, all of whom had made critical or dismissive comments about the Eagles. He called out the disrespect shown to quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, head coach Nick Sirianni, and the team’s overall championship potential.

Tapper passionately declared, “So many of the guys on this team have been told, ‘You’re not champions,’ ‘You’re not excellent,’ ‘You’re overvalued.’ They’ve been shoved aside, dismissed, told to move on and get over it, but their inner drive said, ‘You are wrong. I do have value. I am a champion.’”

He then proudly affirmed, “The Eagles were right. The Eagles were right, and we love them—not just for being champions, but for proving the naysayers wrong.”

This scorched-earth defense of the Eagles was quintessentially Philly: unapologetic and filled with pride. After hearing endless praise for other teams like the Chiefs, Lions, Ravens, and Bills throughout the season, Eagles fans finally had their moment to bask in the glory of proving the doubters wrong. And Tapper, as always, was ready to take that moment to the next level. Fly, Eagles, fly.
