Darius Slay Leaves Door Open for Potential Lions Reunion

Darius Slay isn’t shutting the door on a Detroit Lions reunion—if things don’t work out in Philadelphia.

The veteran cornerback, who’s entering the final year of his contract with the Eagles, made it clear on the St. Brown Podcast that he hopes to stay in Philly. But if the team decides to move on? Detroit is still close to his heart.

“Oh, I love Detroit. That’s my second home,” Slay said when asked about a possible return. He spoke about his deep ties to the city, from training young players to staying involved in the community.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, never one to miss an opportunity, jumped in: “So it sounds like you don’t mind coming back.” Slay laughed but kept it real, saying, “For sure, the two spots I would love to always be at is Philly or Detroit.”

Slay, 35, was a key part of the Lions’ secondary from 2013 to 2019 before being traded to the Eagles, where he’s remained a top-tier cornerback. While a return isn’t set in stone, it’s clear that if the Eagles move on, the Lions could be a real option.

Would Detroit bring him back for one last run? Let’s see how this offseason plays out.
