Darius Slay Wants One More Year—Philly or Detroit?
Veteran cornerback Darius Slay isn’t quite ready to hang up his cleats just yet. The former Lions star and current Eagles playmaker confirmed on the St. Brown Podcast that he plans to play one more season. The only question? Where.
Slay, who turns 34 this year, is under contract with Philadelphia for one more season, but with the Eagles looking to free up cap space, he knows he could be a cut candidate. He’d love to stay in Philly, but if that doesn’t work out, there’s one place he’d consider heading back to—Detroit.
Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown didn’t waste any time testing the waters, playfully suggesting a return to the team that drafted Slay back in 2013. Slay didn’t shut it down. While he made it clear Philly is his first choice, he admitted, “For sure, the two spots I would love to always be at is Philly or Detroit.”
The Lions, who could be looking for a veteran corner with Carlton Davis set to hit free agency, might just be listening. Could a reunion be in the works? If Philly lets Slay go, it’ll be something to watch.
