“Would Be A Lot Of Fun On The Lions”: Detroit Lions Predicted To Sign Former First-Round Pick In Free Agency
The Detroit Lions are looking to improve their defense this offseason, and one potential target is former first-round pick Khalil Mack.
According to Pro Football Network, the Lions should sign Mack in free agency. The Lions have a strong roster, but need to replace Kevin Zeitler at guard and address their defensive needs.
Pro Football Network suggests that adding Mack to the pairing of Za’Darius Smith and Aidan Hutchinson would create an elite pass rush group. While Mack may not come cheap, the Lions have over $40 million in cap space and few needs to address while in a win-now window.
Mack, 33, played for the Los Angeles Chargers last season, recording 39 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and nine pass deflections.
The Lions’ head coach, Dan Campbell, has expressed the need to improve the team’s defense, which was plagued by injuries last season. Signing Mack could be a significant step in that direction.
