Dusty May is sticking with the Wolverines! The Michigan head coach has agreed to a contract extension, securing his future in Ann Arbor after a stellar first season.
Since taking over, May has revitalized Michigan basketball, leading the Wolverines to their first 20-win season in four years and an impressive 12-2 record in Big Ten play. His leadership has put Michigan in the hunt for a conference title, and he’s even landed on the 2025 Naismith Coach of the Year Watch List.
Athletic Director Warde Manuel praised May’s impact, saying his commitment has “far exceeded expectations.” Meanwhile, May expressed gratitude for the support from Manuel, U-M President Santa Ono, and the Board of Regents, emphasizing that his goal is to bring sustained success to the historic program.
Before coming to Michigan, May led Florida Atlantic to a Final Four appearance in 2023 and was a two-time Conference USA Coach of the Year. Now, with this extension, the Wolverines are betting on him to turn their program into a consistent Big Ten powerhouse.
Can May take Michigan basketball back to national prominence?
