Detroit Sports Teams Rally to Honor Devoted Fan in Hospice Care

Detroit’s sports community came together for a powerful and heartfelt tribute to Andy Isaac, a longtime fan, sports blogger, and social media personality known for his love of Detroit teams and Michigan State sports.

Isaac, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2006, has been open about his battle with cancer, sharing his experiences with humor, resilience, and a deep love for Detroit. This past week, he made the difficult decision to enter hospice care, prompting an overwhelming outpouring of support from fans, media members, and the teams he has supported for years.

On Saturday, the Detroit Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers, and Michigan State Spartans came together for a unified tribute in his honor. Each team posted a picture of their arena jumbotron displaying “#Faturday”, a nod to the weekly food reviews Isaac shared with his followers. From trying the latest snacks to documenting indulgent meals, Faturday became a signature part of his online presence, making this tribute deeply personal and meaningful.

Michigan State joined in as well, lighting up the Breslin Center with the same message. Across social media, the teams shared the same phrase: “#Faturday forever and always.” It’s the same sentiment that lives in Isaac’s bio on X (formerly Twitter), where he built a community of Detroit sports fans who connected with his wit, insight, and passion.

Sports Illustrated’s Kyle Koster, who worked with Isaac at Woven (later Uproxx Media), reflected on their friendship, saying, “Andy’s superpower… is the ability to draw people in with humor and unrelenting kindness.”

For years, Isaac has been a voice of the Detroit sports fan, capturing the highs, lows, and everything in between. Now, his favorite teams have made it clear: his impact won’t be forgotten.
