The Detroit Lions have a favorable salary cap situation, but one potential cut candidate stands out. Over The Cap listed five Lions as top 100 cut candidates for 2025, with Kalif Raymond being the most notable.
Raymond has a cap hit of nearly $6.4 million for 2025, despite his role in the offense decreasing. He led the league in punt return yards last season but had only 17 receptions for 215 yards in 12 games.
The Lions value intangible qualities, and Raymond’s punt return skills make him an unlikely cut candidate. However, removing his name from his offensive production over the last two years would make him a more obvious candidate.
A pre-June 1 cut would save the Lions around $2.5 million in cap space, while a post-June 1 cut would save approximately $4.8 million. Raymond’s decreasing significance in the offense and his cap hit make a case for him being the top cut candidate for the Lions.
