Ben Johnson’s Comments Have Lions Fans Seeing Red
It didn’t take long for former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to go from fan favorite to public enemy number one in Detroit.
After taking over as the Chicago Bears’ head coach, Johnson made some comments at the NFL Combine about his new quarterback, Caleb Williams, that aren’t sitting well with Lions fans. He praised Williams’ athleticism, saying he hasn’t really worked with a QB like that before.
Of course, that’s a factual statement—Jared Goff is a classic pocket passer—but any love for the Bears from Johnson is bound to ruffle feathers in Detroit. Even Lions safety Kerby Joseph took notice, hinting that those Lions-Bears matchups next season are already circled on the calendar.
Johnson has been respectful of his time in Detroit, but make no mistake—he’s officially on the other side now. And for Lions fans, that makes him fair game.
