Jerry Jones Under Fire After Rival WSH Secures Deebo Samuel in Surprise Trade

The Dallas Cowboys have been making some questionable moves in the trade market lately, especially when compared to what their rivals, the Washington Commanders, just pulled off. Washington snagged former All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers for just a fifth-round pick. Samuel, who’s turning 29 next season, has built up an impressive career with 334 catches, nearly 4,800 yards, and 22 touchdowns, plus over 1,100 rushing yards and 20 more scores. Now, he’s teaming up with Terry McLaurin to give rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels some serious weapons.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys haven’t had the best luck with wide receiver trades. Back in 2022, they shipped Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick and a late-round pick swap. Cooper went on to rack up over 2,600 yards and 16 touchdowns with the Browns, even making the Pro Bowl. Cleveland eventually traded him to the Buffalo Bills for better draft picks.

Last year, the Cowboys traded a fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers for Jonathan Mingo, along with a seventh-round pick. Mingo barely made an impact, catching only five passes for 46 yards and no touchdowns in eight games.

Fans and analysts have been dragging Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for these decisions, especially after Washington managed to land a player like Samuel for such a low price. Social media was buzzing with people calling for Jones to step up his game and stop making lopsided trades.
