The Detroit Lions are set at quarterback with Jared Goff leading the way and Hendon Hooker as his backup, but one local writer believes they should consider adding former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance in free agency.
Lance, who has struggled to find his footing in the NFL after stints with the 49ers and Cowboys, has a connection to Detroit through new tight ends coach Tyler Roehl, his former offensive coordinator at North Dakota State. Given Lance’s raw athleticism and potential, he could be a low-risk developmental option. However, unless the Lions move Hooker, it’s unlikely Lance would join as a third-string QB.
