Lions Could Land Future Hall of Fame EDGE Without Losing Draft Picks

The Detroit Lions have a prime opportunity to add a game-changing presence to their defense without sacrificing draft capital. With Khalil Mack set to hit free agency after finishing his contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit could land the future Hall of Famer on a short-term deal—giving their pass rush an instant boost.

Though Mack is no longer in his prime, the 34-year-old remains an effective disruptor, finishing the 2024 season with six sacks. His experience and leadership could be invaluable for a Lions defense that continues to improve but still needs reinforcements on the edge. Pairing Mack with Aidan Hutchinson would create a dangerous duo, with Mack’s presence potentially freeing up Hutchinson to wreak even more havoc on opposing quarterbacks.

The key advantage? The Lions wouldn’t need to give up any draft picks, making this a low-risk, high-reward move. General manager Brad Holmes has built the team through smart drafting, but adding a veteran like Mack could be the final piece to push Detroit closer to Super Bowl contention.
