Jonah Jackson Trade Alert—Ex-Lions Guard Staying in the NFC North

Jonah Jackson is back in the NFC North, but not with the Lions. The Chicago Bears are finalizing a trade with the Los Angeles Rams to acquire the former Pro Bowl guard in exchange for a sixth-round pick. This move reunites Jackson with former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, now the Bears’ head coach.

Jackson signed a three-year, $51 million deal with the Rams last offseason, but his time in Los Angeles was rocky. Injuries kept him sidelined, an experiment at center didn’t work out, and he ended up playing just four games before becoming a weekly inactive. Now, the Bears are taking on his full contract, including a $17.5 million salary for 2025, in hopes he can regain his old form.

If Jackson can stay healthy, he brings proven talent to a Bears offensive line that needs help. But for the Lions, seeing another familiar face join Johnson in Chicago only adds more intrigue to the NFC North race. The deal will become official when the new league year starts on March 12
