Lions Players Hit with Over $230K in Fines During 2024 Season

The Detroit Lions racked up over $230,000 in fines during the 2024 season, with safety Brian Branch and wide receiver Jameson Williams leading the way. Across 17 weeks and the postseason, ten Lions players combined for $233,736 in fines, mostly for on-field infractions and post-touchdown celebrations.

Branch, known for his aggressive play, was hit with $70,896 in fines, including penalties for a helmet-to-helmet hit and an obscene gesture toward Packers fans in Week 9. Williams wasn’t far behind, totaling $70,346 in fines, with two major penalties for excessive celebrations—one mimicking Marshawn Lynch’s “Beast Quake” and another in the playoffs despite teammates urging him to reconsider.

While the Lions’ total pales in comparison to teams like the Houston Texans ($3.15 million in fines), it highlights the costly impact of discipline issues throughout the season.
