Could the Lions Make a Move for Khalil Mack?
The Detroit Lions’ defense battled through injuries last season, but as they aim to take the next step, could they target a proven veteran like Khalil Mack?
Mack, a seven-time Pro Bowler, remains a dominant pass-rusher even at 34 years old. Coming off a 17-sack season with the Chargers, he’s shown he can still be an impact player. With Aidan Hutchinson and Za’Darius Smith already on the roster, adding Mack would give Detroit a formidable pass-rushing trio.
The challenge? His price tag. Mack is reportedly seeking a three-year, $70 million extension, which would be a major investment. The Lions have around $51 million in cap space, but re-signing key players like Hutchinson, Kerby Joseph, and Alex Anzalone is a priority.
Would Brad Holmes make a bold move for Mack? If the Lions believe they’re on the brink of a Super Bowl run, adding an elite veteran like him could be the missing piece.
