Amon-Ra St. Brown has become one of the brightest stars in Detroit, but it turns out the Lions were the last team he wanted to draft him. On a recent episode of the “St. Brown Podcast,” the All-Pro wide receiver admitted he told his brother just 20 minutes before the 2021 NFL Draft that he didn’t want to end up in Detroit.
Of course, things worked out just fine. Since arriving as a fourth-round pick, St. Brown has racked up 430 catches, 4,851 yards, and 33 touchdowns in four seasons, earning three Pro Bowls and two First-Team All-Pro selections. His impact helped turn the Lions from a rebuilding team into a 15-win powerhouse, and Detroit rewarded him with a four-year, $120 million extension to keep him through 2028. Safe to say, the team he didn’t want has become the perfect fit.
