Marcus Davenport Aims to Be a Dependable Force for the Lions

Marcus Davenport is ready for a fresh start with the Detroit Lions, aiming to shed his injury-prone label and become a reliable force on defense.

After missing most of the 2024 season with groin and triceps injuries, the veteran pass-rusher signed a one-year deal worth up to $4.75 million. It’s his second straight offseason signing with Detroit, and he’s determined to prove he can stay on the field.

Davenport has battled injuries throughout his career, never playing a full season since being drafted in 2018. However, his strong pass-rush production in New Orleans—including a nine-sack season in 2021—shows his potential when healthy.

With Aidan Hutchinson leading the Lions’ pass rush, Davenport is expected to play a key rotational role in 2025. If he can stay healthy, he could be a valuable asset for Detroit’s defense.
