Alabama’s Head Coach Rob Vaughn Eyes Showdown with ‘Bear’ at No. 19 Texas A&M

The No. 17 Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team secured a 6-3 victory over the UAB Blazers on Tuesday night at Regions Field, bringing their record to 13-4 as they head into SEC play.

Alabama’s strong start to the season has largely come at home, with only two true road games so far, including this matchup against UAB. Head coach Rob Vaughn emphasized the value of getting a road game in before the Crimson Tide begins a tough three-game series at No. 19 Texas A&M to kick off conference play.

“Our crowd was awesome. This is a road game for us, but it almost felt like a home game at times when they had the Alabama chants going,” Vaughn said. “This is gonna be a bear coming into this weekend. A&M’s probably got the most talented team in college baseball. They haven’t played awesome the first four weeks, but they’re going to run three elite arms out there at us.”

Vaughn also pointed to Texas A&M’s potent offense as another challenge the team will face.

“It’s a dangerous, dangerous lineup,” he said. “SEC games in general are hard, SEC games on the road are a whole nother level of hard. So, it’s just gonna be about — well, we’re gonna send it and try to get one on Friday and then regroup and try it two more times after that.”

Alabama and Texas A&M will open their series on Friday night at Blue Bell Park in College Station, Texas, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
