Lions Reward Kerby Joseph with Nearly $1M in Performance Pay

Kerby Joseph is cashing in after a stellar 2024 season. The Lions’ All-Pro safety is set to receive nearly $1 million in performance-based pay after leading the NFL with nine interceptions and playing nearly 1,200 snaps. His bonus ranks sixth-highest in the league under the program, which rewards players with high snap counts and lower salaries.

Joseph, a 2022 third-round pick, is now eligible for a contract extension. With elite ball-hawking skills and physical tackling ability, he’s become a core piece of Detroit’s defense. Lions GM Brad Holmes has acknowledged Joseph’s value, and with top safeties earning around $18.7 million per year, the Lions will need to decide how to handle his future—especially with Brian Branch also in line for an extension soon.
