Detroit Brings Back Key Defensive Tackle Following Career Year

Lions Bring Back Another 2021 Draft Pick, Re-Sign Levi Onwuzurike

The Detroit Lions continue to prioritize continuity along their defensive line, re-signing defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike to a one-year, $5.5 million deal. Onwuzurike, a second-round pick in 2021, is coming off his best NFL season, finishing 15th among defensive tackles in total pressures, per Pro Football Focus.

This move keeps another piece of Brad Holmes’ first draft class in Detroit. The Lions had already locked in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, Alim McNeil, and Derrick Barnes on long-term deals. Onwuzurike now joins a strong interior rotation alongside McNeil, D.J. Reader, and newly signed Roy Lopez, solidifying the defensive front for 2025.
