The Detroit Lions have made a surprise move by bringing back a key member of their defense. Defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike has agreed to a one-year deal worth $5.5 million after a breakout season in 2024.
Onwuzurike was drafted by the Lions with the 41st overall pick in 2021. He struggled with injuries in his first two seasons, but finally had a chance to shine in 2024. During that season, he recorded 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.
The Lions have been working to strengthen their defense, particularly after star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson missed most of the season due to injury. Onwuzurike’s return is a significant step in that direction.
