Lions Add Seasoned Signal-Caller: Kyle Allen Signs with Detroit

The Detroit Lions are adding veteran quarterback Kyle Allen in free agency. Allen, 29, has played for five different teams, including the Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In his career, Allen has made 19 starts, completing 62.7% of his passes for 4,753 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. He has also rushed for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Allen’s addition provides a boost to the Lions’ quarterback depth, which currently features Jared Goff, Hendon Hooker, and Jake Fromm. With Allen’s experience, he can serve as a mentor to the younger quarterbacks and provide a steady hand in case of an emergency.

The Lions are likely looking for a reliable backup quarterback who can step in and lead the team if Goff were to get injured. Allen’s experience and skills make him a good fit for this role.

It’s worth noting that the terms of Allen’s contract have not been disclosed, so it’s unclear how much he will be paid or how long his contract will last. However, it’s likely that the Lions signed him to a modest deal, given that he is a veteran backup quarterback.
