Detroit Keeps Special Teams Intact, Re-Signs Key Players for 2025 Campaign

Lions Retain Key Special Teams Contributors with Pittman, Nowaske Re-Signings
The Detroit Lions are keeping key pieces of their special teams unit in place, re-signing linebackers Trevor Nowaske and Anthony Pittman. They’ll join recently re-signed Ezekiel Turner and new addition Grant Stuard in what’s shaping up to be a competitive battle for special teams roles in 2025.

Nowaske played a crucial role under special teams coordinator Dave Fipp last season, logging 260 special teams snaps while also starting two games at linebacker due to injuries. He recorded 24 tackles, two sacks, and an interception in 14 games.

Pittman, a Detroit native and former Wayne State standout, has been a staple on special teams, playing over 1,100 snaps in his time with the Lions. After a brief stint with Jacksonville, he returned to Detroit last season, where he quickly reintegrated into the team’s culture.

With the Lions aiming to maintain their strong special teams presence, keeping these experienced contributors should help solidify one of the league’s most reliable units.
