While the Dallas Cowboys haven’t exactly stolen the spotlight in the early days of NFL free agency, they still managed to make headlines late Thursday night—just not for the reasons fans might have hoped.

Veteran defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who officially signed with the Seattle Seahawks after spending his entire 11-year career in Dallas, stirred up some drama with comments that quickly caught fire online. In an interview with Seahawks content creator Brian Nemhauser, Lawrence had some parting words for his former team that raised eyebrows across the league.

“Dallas is my home,” Lawrence said. “Made my home there, my family lives there, I’m forever going to be there. I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there.”

That bold statement didn’t take long to go viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, and it drew a swift response from Cowboys star defensive end Micah Parsons, who spent four seasons alongside Lawrence on the Dallas defensive line.

“This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown sh–!” Parsons wrote in a post on X.

But Lawrence didn’t let the jab go unanswered. Less than an hour later, he clapped back.

“Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth,” Lawrence fired back. “Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”

According to sources within the Cowboys organization, the tension between Lawrence and Parsons isn’t exactly new. While there were no major incidents, there was reportedly a divide in leadership within the defensive line room. That dynamic shifted last season when Lawrence was placed on injured reserve in Week 5, allowing Parsons to take the reins and become the more dominant voice in the locker room.

Now, what once may have been behind-the-scenes friction has spilled into full view on social media, just days after Lawrence’s departure. With both players airing out their feelings publicly, it’s clear that some unfinished business is still lingering—even if they’re now on separate teams.

As free agency continues, it seems the pl are making news not with their signings, but with the fallout from their departures.
