The Detroit Lions’ needs have become clearer after the first wave of free agency. Here’s a new 7-round mock draft for the Lions:
First Round, No. 28 overall: Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State
Zabel is a versatile lineman who can play multiple positions. He’s seen as a potential candidate to start right away at guard.
Second Round, No. 60 overall: Shemar Stewart, DL, Texas A&M
Stewart has intriguing measurables and is scheme-versatile. He could line up across the defensive front and fill a need for the Lions.
Third Round, No. 102 overall: Ashton Gillotte, EDGE, Louisville
Gillotte fits the physical profile the Lions like in edge players. He’s consistent with persistent effort and could be a valuable addition.
Fourth Round, No. 130 overall: Pat Bryant, WR, Illinois
Bryant had a breakthrough final season at Illinois. He could be a suitable replacement for Tim Patrick, who was re-signed to a one-year deal.
Sixth Round, No. 196 overall: Caleb Ransaw, S, Tulane
Ransaw lined up all over the field for Tulane. He could be a valuable addition as a safety, particularly with Ifeatu Melifonwu gone.
Seventh Round, No. 228 overall: Dylan Fairchild, OG, Georgia
Fairchild is a top-notch pass protector. He needs to get stronger, but he could become a future starter.
Seventh Round, No. 244 overall: Oronde Gadsen II, TE, Syracuse
Gadsen is a wide receiver who plays tight end. He’s not well-regarded as a blocker, but he has coachable potential.
