Giovanni Manu, the Detroit Lions’ offensive tackle, is making waves with his impressive offseason workout video. The 6-foot-8, 335-pound lineman has been putting in the work, showcasing significant improvements, particularly in footwork drills. His athleticism, which was already impressive, is now complemented by enhanced technique.
The Lions traded up to select Manu in the third round of the 2024 draft, knowing he’d be a project. After a “redshirt year” as a rookie, Manu is poised to compete for the No. 3 “swing” tackle spot or potentially move inside to guard.
General manager Brad Holmes and teammate Penei Sewell have praised Manu’s work ethic and progress. With Kevin Zeitler’s departure, the Lions may consider moving Manu to guard or having him compete for the swing tackle role.
