Brandon Scherff
Scherff, a former first-round pick in 2015, has been a key part of the Jaguars’ offensive line for the last three years. He’d bring stability to the Lions right away. If he’s still hoping for a shot at a championship, Detroit is the perfect place for him. At about $6 million a year, this is a no-brainer for GM Brad Holmes.
Will Hernandez
Hernandez might have missed most of the 2024 season due to a knee injury, but Brad Holmes is known for snagging players who others might pass on because of injury concerns. Hernandez has shifted from left guard to right guard and could be a great fit if his medical checks out. He’s a bit of a gamble, but one that could pay off.
Bottom Line
Honestly, starting the 2025 season with Glasgow and Mahogany at guard doesn’t feel comfortable. Glasgow’s clearly declining, and we still don’t know if Mahogany can hack it as a starter in the NFL. The Lions need to bring in Scherff or Hernandez as a starter and then let Glasgow and Mahogany fight for the other spot.
