Ex-CIA Chief Says Biden Team Used Signal for Secret War Chats
Former CIA Director John Ratcliffe is pointing fingers at President Joe Biden’s administration over a conversation on the encrypted messaging app Signal, which may have included classified military info.
According to a bombshell report from The Atlantic, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth allegedly shared classified war plans in a Signal chat where, surprisingly, a reporter was also part of the group.
The report also reveals that Trump-era officials were using Signal to discuss classified military strikes on the Houthis in Yemen. This raised eyebrows in the Senate Intelligence Committee, leading to tough questions for Trump’s former officials.
During a hearing, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) grilled both Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Ratcliffe, pressing them on whether they were involved in these chats. Gabbard dodged the question, but Ratcliffe admitted to it.
Ratcliffe then tried to clarify, saying Signal was already being used at the CIA before Biden took office. He explained that while the app was permitted for work-related communication, any real decisions had to be recorded through official channels. He insisted his messages were lawful and didn’t contain classified info.
Warner pushed back, saying if the messages weren’t classified, then the officials should have no problem making them public.
