Trump Doubles Down: Says Hayes’ Family Doesn’t Own ‘Hold On, I’m Coming’

Trump Pushes Back in Copyright Dispute Over ‘Hold On, I’m Coming’

Former President Donald Trump is standing firm in his legal battle over the rights to the classic soul hit  Hold On, I’m Coming, In a recent court filing, Trump argued that the heirs of legendary singer Isaac Hayes haven’t proven they actually own the copyright to the song  challenging the foundation of their lawsuit against him.

The dispute stems from claims that Trump and his campaign repeatedly used the song without permission. The latest filing comes after Hayes’ heirs sought sanctions against Turning Point Action, a co-defendant in the case, for allegedly making baseless arguments about song ownership. Turning Point also doubled down, saying the lawsuit doesn’t clearly lay out how Isaac Hayes Enterprises LLC holds the rights to the track.

The case is playing out in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the outcome could have big implications for how political campaigns use music. For now, both sides are digging in for a legal showdown.
